About this site
Here you will find a copy of the Swedish National Guidelines for Public Sector Websites (Vägledningen 24-timmarswebben). The guidelines were developed by Verva, the Swedish Administrative Development Agency. At the end of 2008 Verva was shut down and no other agency was given the task to promote web usability, accessibility and standardization in Sweden.
This site is a private initiative and the guidelines presented are not the official version. However, additions are clearly marked and only spelling errors and links have been changed. This website is run by Peter Krantz. I co-authored the guidelines from 2004 to 2008.
The purpose of the Guidelines is to support the procurement, development, and maintenance of a website by a public administration so that it offers equal opportunity usage for all citizens. The Guidelines reflect local conditions in Sweden, and as such, certain aspects may not be so readily applicable in other countries.
In April, 2008 Verva released a version in english. Download the Swedish National Guidelines for Public Sector Websites (PDF 1.3 Mb).
